Eligible patients urged to book a flu jab

GP surgeries in Glossop and Hadfield will be providing flu vaccinations in the coming weeks for all patients who are eligible.

Clinics will be available at Manor House Glossop, Howard Medical Practice, Cottage Lane Surgery in Gamesley, Simmondley Medical Practice, Lambgates Health Centre and Manor House Hadfield.

Glossop Primary Care Network say all clinics have been carefully constructed to ensure maximum safety for both patients and staff, and will be fully compliant with national guidelines to prevent the spread of Covid-19.

This year, high risk patients will take priority, followed by over 65s and then other eligible patients.

Child nasal flu vaccinations for two and three year olds and for 12 to 17 year olds will be available from October. All children in Reception to Year 7 will be vaccinated at school.

NHS England are looking to increase eligibility for seasonal influenza vaccinations, which may include anyone over the age of 50 and household members or carers of patients who have been classified as high risk, but it hasn't yet been confirmed and vaccines haven't been allocated.

Clinics say they are expecting a huge uptake this year, as there are additional eligible patients, and supplies are limited so they are strongly advising eligible patients to book an appointment as soon as possible by contacting their relevant surgery listed above.

Patients are reminded to wear a face covering to the appointment, wear loose clothing, attend alone where possible, and do NOT attend if you're displaying symptoms of Covid-19.

Glossop Primary Care Network said in a statement: "The GP practices look forward to seeing you and ensuring you stay as well and healthy as possible over the winter period."
