Elvis has left the building and, to be honest, he never even went in!
Due to Covid-19 restrictions, look-alike James Cuddy had to serenade his Glossop fans from outside.
James is the husband of Michelle Fletcher, who is the HR manager at St Christopher’s Trust - a charity which offers residential care and support for adults with learning disabilities - and for years has been doing events for the Glossop-based organisation.
Said Michelle: “That’s how we met 13 years ago. He has done birthday parties, Christmas parties and charity events.
“He always does their Christmas party, however this year we were unable to do this due to Covid. We didn’t want our clients to miss out more than they already have this year, so we agreed for him to visit our residential care home (at Redcourt Hollincross Lane) where he sang some songs from outside whilst they danced away.
“They absolutely love him and it’s like an old friend visiting. One client in particular shouted to the others ‘it’s Elvis, he’s here’ - it was magical to see.
“He took them goodies, chocolates, mince pies, biscuits etc. He then visited all our other houses where our clients live in the community, this covered Glossop, Simmondley and Hadfield.”
Elvis - James - delivered a bag off goodies and once again everyone was excited to see him.
Said Michelle: “It’s been a tough year and some of our clients are recovering from Covid so it was much needed.”
Please note: This was before the current lockdown came into force.
