Emergency services join forces in Glossopdale School visit

Students from Glossopdale School have been able to see the impact of a road traffic collision, thanks to a joint initiative involving three emergency services.

Police, the ambulance service and the fire and rescue service were using the mock RTC to highlight the dangers of teenagers taking and driving off in their parents’ cars after incidents in the High Peak.

Firefighter Carter Moss from Glossop Fire Station said: “We have done this before and it is quite effective, we have done it in New Mills and Buxton this is the first time we are doing it at Glossopdale.

“There have been recent incidents which is the reason why we are doing this.”

The fire service arrived on the scene as if they were attending a real rescue and had drama students taking part by acting as casualties.

The event was part of a Super Learning Day held at the Hadfield-based school on Tuesday (8 February).

It saw the different year groups take part in sessions focusing on various themes.

Year 7's theme was Health and Wellbeing, Year 8 focused on Diversity, Year 9 had Careers Information Advice and Guidance, Year 10 honed in on Tolerance and Respect, Year 11 focused on Resilience and Study skills, and Sixth Form students had a Futures and team building day.
