Exciting Easter events planned in Gamesley

Gamesley community group G52 is looking forward to carrying on supporting more people thanks to a cash grant.

It has also announced extra Easter treats for Gamesley children.

G52 have been successful in securing funds from Foundation Derbyshire to further develop the role of their resident support worker.

The £7,500 will enable single adults, aged 25-60, to access support from Anne Gribbon, a former PCSO, who began working with G52 when she retired.

G52’s Pat Javanaud said: “Anne has supported local residents with homelessness issues, crisis grants and jointly works with Housing, Adult Care, Health and Citizens Advice.

“This grant will allow the post to continue until the end of this year. Gamesley and G52 are more than happy that Anne is still around.”

Pat said that as the Easter holidays draw nearer, in addition to the usual Thursday Pantry over Easter, the group is staging some extra events.

These include:

  • Thursday, April 1 - an Easter goodies craft bag (ingredients to make Easter themed treats at home)
  • Wednesday, April 7 - hot pizza slices for the children on the estate to enjoy
  • Monday, April 12 - takeaway hot dogs again for the children
  • Wednesday, April 14 - pre-packed picnic lunch.

All of the above are available for collection from G52 Community Hub on Winster Mews from 11.30am on a first come first served basis.

Said Pat: “As it looks like we are beginning to lift some of the lockdown restrictions towards summer, G52 would like to wish everyone a safe and happy Easter.”
