Film fest to raise funds for mountain rescuers

A one-night film festival will take place this month to raise funds for the Kinder Mountain Rescue Team.

A selection of six short movies from the London Mountain Film Festival will be shown by organisers I’d Rather Be Outdoors at The Studio Gym in Hallam Mill, Stockport, on Friday March 14th.

The films are all based on outdoor activities and include Bafta-nominated animation, Plunge; Many Small Steps, about a boy on a quest to bag his first Munro; and George, which follows a fellrunner fighting disease and depression alongside his trusty canine sidekick.

Tim Bowman from I’d Rather Be Outdoors said: “Being in the outdoors is a real passion of ours and although we have so far not had to call upon the services of mountain rescue, one day it could happen.

“So, our obvious choice for a fundraiser was to support the fantastic work they do, and here we are.

“There will be a selection of short films we have carefully chosen from London Mountain Film Festival.

“To create an outdoors style festival, you will need to bring your own camp chairs and blankets and get comfy as we watch inspiring short films from the outdoors sports scene, showcasing hiking, climbing, running and everything in between!”

There is a minimum donation of £12.50 for tickets, which includes a bean chilli supper.

All funds will go toward Kinder Mountain Rescue Team and doors open at 7pm with screenings between 7:30pm to 9:30pm.
