The sun shone down on Glossop Cemetery on Monday for the funeral of our very own Sundance Kid.
And although there was only a handful of people from the thousands touched by the life of Jeff Burrows, 'the Kid' got a good send off.
Around 20, some from Mottram's Balmoral Care Home who looked after Jeff in his last few years, gathered around the grave.
They were joined by members of his family, a few friends and locals with fond memories of him.
Jeff, who would have loved to have been the legendary Sundance Kid, died on 29 September at the Old Road care home at the age of 78.
One of the cowboy hats he always wore rested amongst summer flowers on his coffin and was buried with him in the grave he shared with his dad James.
There were smiles amongst the tears as mourners were reminded of how Jeff was a familiar figure in Glossop, dressed in his 'Sundance Kid' clothes, and how every year he printed hundreds of calendars which he gave away free to anyone who asked him.
Jeff was known for his 'shout-outs' calling out 'Howdy cowboy' and 'howdy cowgirl' in Glossop's streets and supermarkets.
And as the short service came to a close, there was one more 'shout out', this time for Jeff, from a relative, which somehow seemed the most fitting tribute of all.
