Fire at disused Glossop building was started deliberately

The former Autoden building next to M&S in Glossop.

An investigation is under way after crews confirmed that a fire at a disused building in Glossop was started deliberately. 

Firefighters from Glossop Fire Station were called to the old Autoden Motorists Centre, directly behind and adjacent to the new Lidl store, within the Howard Town Mill complex at around 6.30pm on Tuesday (8 March). 

Two appliances were required after staff from M&S reported smoke coming from the nearby building. 

The fire service has since said that school books, waste paper and rubbish had been used in the fire. 

Anyone with information or any witnesses are being asked to contact Derbyshire Constabulary by calling 101 or reporting it online at https://www.derbyshire.police.uk quoting occurrence reference 22000135517 and the officer in the case PC 15379 Todd.
