Free lunches are being given to children from Hadfield, Padfield and Tintwistle over the summer school holidays.
They are being distributed by Hadfield Coming Together.
Each packed lunch will contain either chicken, cheese or ham sandwiches, as well as crisps, fruit and chocolate.
They will be available from Carmel Church on Station Road in Hadfield from 12pm to 2pm each Wednesday.
Hadfield Coming Together is run by High Peak Mayoress Gill Cross.
Her husband and Mayor Cllr Ollie Cross volunteers.
Cllr Cross told the Chronicle: "Every Wednesday morning for the next few weeks I’ll be busy buttering bread for the sandwiches. We’re expecting around 120 will be given away every week for the duration of the school holidays. And in partnership with ‘Street Games’ we’ll also be giving away sports equipment. These include skipping ropes, footballs and cricket sets.
"Last year we gave away arts and crafts materials. The packed lunches are available to everyone. We will not turn anyone away. We are aiming to take the stigma away from accepting free food.”
Anyone who wants a packed lunch can call into Carmel Church on Station Road in Hadfield every Wednesday between 10am and 2pm.
