A Neighbourhood Watch scheme in South East Glossop is set to receive a funding boost.
It's one of 11 further schemes due to benefit from the Derbyshire Police and Crime Commissioner's Neighbourhood Watch Innovation Funding - but the only one in the High Peak.
An additional £3,000 has been allocated to support local initiatives, designed to improve community safety, in the latest round of funding.
Extra funds have also been granted to Derbyshire Neighbourhood Watch Association Trust to help them promote schemes locally across the county and to enable them to pay for a licence for Microsoft Teams so that members can continue to meet virtually amid coronavirus restrictions.
PCC Hardyal Dhindsa said: “Without Neighbourhood Watch our communities would be more vulnerable to crime. Supporting these schemes is, to me, a no-brainer. Neighbourhood Watch does a tremendous amount to keep communities safe and deter criminals and if I can help with some funding, that’s a good investment for everyone.”
