Further online adult education courses available throughout September

Residents can now book on to more free online and remote learning adult education taster courses.

Taster courses include languages, yoga, floristry, creative writing skills and more.

Cllr Alex Dale, Derbyshire County Council's Cabinet Member for Children and Young People, said: "We had a fantastic response from residents who signed up to our online summer courses and we’re pleased to be able to offer more courses throughout the month of September.

“These courses are completely free and are designed to give you a taste of what’s coming up in our main Autumn term programme.

“If you’re looking to pick up a new skill or hobby why not take a look at what’s on offer, but spaces on the courses are limited so make sure you sign up as soon as possible to guarantee a place.”

Some courses can be done online at a pace that suits you, while other courses will be delivered remotely using Zoom where learners will be part of a live class with a tutor and fellow learners.

All you need is a laptop, tablet or smart phone with internet access.

Learners will be provided with a list of materials or equipment they need for each session.

Find the taster course for you and register your place now.

The county council also says it's currently working on reopening many of its Adult Community Education centres in stages and with extra safety procedures in place.

It added in a statement: "We're following the latest government and council guidance on this to ensure that we provide a safe environment for all centre users and staff.

"We've been working hard within this guidance to develop an autumn term programme of online, face to face and blended (mixed face to face and online) courses, many of which start later this month. Full details will be on our website soon."
