
On Saturday, Gamesley held a charity football match to raise money to reignite Gamesley Football Club.
They raised an incredible £628.50.
Tom Burns and Ashleigh Jenkins worked hard to pull together an 11v11 match, United Fans v City Fans and a family fun day, with activities for all the family.
They saw more than 150 community members come and enjoy the afternoon’s events.
The game was evenly matched, finishing with a late penalty to give United Fans the win at 2-1, with Carl scoring the winning penalty.
Tom Burns, one of the organisers said: “I was thrilled by the turnout, it reminded me of my youth when these events happened regularly.
“This is the first of many events and the start of Gamesley FC.”
Helen from Move More Glossop, has been supporting Tom to develop Gamesley FC, ensuring they are affiliated with Derbyshire FA, with a plan to have a mens team entering a league 25/26, along with recreational teams, to encourage football for all abilities. Helen said: “We current facilitate a Saturday morning Footy Fun session, which is attended by young people from Gamesley, we will develop this to ensure inclusivity of football for all.”
