Tintwistle Children's Gala celebrated its centenary last year and the good news is that 'Gala 101' is already being planned.
Tintwistle Athletic Football Club has ‘saved’ the village’s biggest annual event.
All that’s needed now is volunteers to help run it and lots of bright ideas.
Club secretary Jill Crossland said: “The gala committee all retired last year after serving the village for a very long time.
“As you know, it is very difficult to get volunteers to come forward and a lack of new volunteers meant the future of the gala was in doubt.
“Tintwistle Athletic have stepped in to the rescue and make sure the gala does continue.”
This year’s gala will be held at West Drive football centre on Saturday, June 27 and will have an ‘Olympic theme’.
The club is holding a planning meeting on Tuesday, January 28, at 6pm at the football centre and everyone’s invited
Jill said: “We want to invite representatives from all the community groups from both Tintwistle and Hadfield and also any residents or businesses from Tintwistle or Hadfield to help plan for this year’s event and bring fresh ideas to the table.
“Tea and coffee will be provided.”
