Glossop Arts Project celebrates 10 years

The celebration was an acknowledgement of all that the place has achieved throughout the last decade.

The project has just received another 3 years of funding from The National Lottery Community Fund which enables them to continue doing what they do best as well as future proofing the charity.

At the weekend, GAP celebrated its 10th anniversary at Glossop’s Victoria Hall where Glossop Ukulele Group provided the entertainment and the Mayor of High Peak Pete Inman and his wife Mayoress Lois Blackburn were in attendance. They also gave a speech about the importance of art and creativity within the community and how it brings people together.

Project leader at GAP Clare Isherwood commented: “GAP has recently become a charity so we wanted to highlight this and introduce our new board of Trustees : Barbara, Linz, Gail and Vicky.

“We also couldn’t run our provision if we didn’t have volunteers who we are extremely indebted to and enrich our sessions by being brilliant. Thank you to Eva, who’s been with us for most of our existence, Katie, Louise, Gail, Mel, Jill, Harriet, Mark, Martin and Matt, our resident DJ, you are all very special.

“Happiness is Homemade in Hadfield provided the delicious cakes and bakes which went down well with our refreshing mocktail bar.

“We also had creative activities for people to take part in and looked at GAP’s Past, Present and Future ideas and received comments and photos from everyone involved.

Here’s to the next 10 years!”.
