Glossop based fitness group go the extra mile for men's mental health

On Saturday 23 November, the team at Go Hard Fitness & Boxing in Hadfield put on 12 hours of consecutive classes from 8am-8pm to show support for Movember and raising awareness of men's mental health.

The classes were a mix of circuits, boxercise, kids sessions, strength, hyboxfit and much more.

All members were encouraged to bring along a friend, partner or family member with them in the spirit of what Movember is all about: Strength in talking, community to carry us and teamwork.

Pete Wallroth who is a member of the group said: “we know so many of us have struggles with our mental health at different times and the gym can offer a great outlet whether through the physical aspect or the community within it so we wanted to do someone to show support.”

He added: “We just asked for a donation from those attending no matter how many sessions they did and all the proceeds are going to local organisation Mentell who run sessions in Bradbury House on Monday evenings at 7:15, and the UK wide Andy’s Man Club.”

There were people dipping in and out all day doing 1, 4 or 6 sessions and some crazy folk doing between 10 and Gym owner Gareth Hardy completing all 12 as well as planning them out.

Gareth commented on the day, expressing his gratitude: “Thank you everyone for making Saturday an absolutely belting day.

Each and every person who took part smashed it. A massive thanks for taking time out of your weekend to come down; our members and new faces too

It’s brilliant to see what a fab community we’ve grown here at Go Hard and how we come together to support these charities."

The team are hoping to reach their target of £1000.
