Glossop Arts and Leisure Association say it is delighted to be able to bring back the town's carnival as the event makes a welcome return in Manor Park this weekend.

After Covid meant events in 2020 and 2021 couldn’t take place, organisers are hard at work putting the finishing touches to two fun-filled days of entertainment for the whole family to enjoy.

Entry to the event will be free.

It will take place on Saturday 2 and Sunday 3 July.

There will be fairground rides, music from Arnfield Brass Band and the Regent Big Band, dance performances from Centre Stage and a children's entertainer.

There will also be various food stalls, a beer tent and a gin bar.

On Saturday afternoon, there will be a fun dog show. Registration is from midday ahead of the first class starting at 12.30pm. More details can be found on the RSPCA Tameside and Glossop Facebook page.

The weekend will also include craft and charity stalls, and the chance to get your bikes security marked for free.

Anyone who is interested in having a stall and would like more information can call the GALA Secretary for more info on 07811 526455.

The following borough councillors have given £1,000 to support the carnival: Ed Siddall, Ed Kelly, Jamie Douglas, Jean Wharmby, George Wharmby, Damien Greenhalgh, Paul Hardy, Stewart Gardner, Anthony Mckeown and Rachel Abbotts.

Glossop and District Round Table have also given £200 towards the running of the event.
