Glossop Heritage Trust is holding its Autumn Open Evening on Wednesday 25th October.
The talk will take a look at the life of Edmund Potter, Calico Printer and Philanthropist and owner of Dinting Vale Print Works. Although he is probably most famous for being the grandfather of the author, Beatrix Potter, he had an illustrious career of his own.
Kate Raine will be sharing new research on Edmund’s life. The talk will look at his role in the great institutions, society and politics in Manchester and the Calico Print Works at Dinting Vale, which were at one point the largest in the world.
The talk is on Wednesday 25th October 2023, 7.30pm, at Central Methodist Church, Chapel Street, Glossop. The talk is free and all are welcome.
Train operator Northern will be helping racegoers gallop to the Grand National festival at Aintree this week, with extra trains running to get customers safely to the races and back home again.
On Friday night in front of a record local crowd of nearly 700, Glossop North End Community Club’s 1st team claimed its first “Open Age” silverware in dramatic fashion.
