Glossop Rotary Club has hit the magical £250,000 total, with the fundraiser it first held in 1978.
But just by the skin of its teeth.
Last October’s Glossop Jog brought in around £5,000, which organiser Barrie Powney thought at the time would take the total raised from 41 ‘Jogs’ past the quarter of a million pound mark.
However it looked as though it might fall agonisingly short.
But this week, a relieved club president Paul Scullion called the Chronicle to say: “We have done it, £60 has come in from Glossopdale School which takes it (the total) past the £250,000 mark.”
The news comes just weeks before the jog’s annual presentation night, when cheques will be presented to Kidscan and other charities and awards to some of the joggers.
