After an enforced break in 2020, the annual Glossop Jog will be back later this month.
It’ll take place on Sunday 10th October at 11am at Pikes Lane sports ground.
It’s been organised by Glossop Rotary Club, with the goal of raising funds for local and international charities.
This year it’s the 44th anniversary. The course is 0.4 miles in length.
The route
The annual charity fundraiser had to be cancelled last year due to the coronavirus pandemic.
Back in 2019, the jog managed to raise £5,000 for the children's charity Kidscan, when around 260 sponsored joggers and supporters took part at Glossop Cricket Club.
It took the cash raised since the first run around a Glossop-based circuit in 1970 to £250,000.
President of Glossop Rotary Gill Redfern said: "The Jog is a popular feature in the Glossop calendar as well as being the main fund-raising event of our Rotary Club. Since the Jog first commenced in 1978 we have raised over £250,000.
"I hope we can continue this year to make it a year to remember for our beneficiaries.
"I acknowledge that without people’s continued support we would not have been able to have supported so many charities over the years and in the hope of another great year I would like to thank all the joggers for participating and your sponsors for their continued generosity.”
