Glossop Labour Club is launching a series of monthly discussions on a variety of political and social topics to be held on the fourth Wednesday evening of each month.
The series launches with talks on “The Political History of Glossop Labour Club” on Wednesday 27th September covering it’s formation in 1906 by local millworkers, trade unionists and members of the Independent Labour Party, through support for striking mineworkers in 1984-5 to the present day.
The event will see the launch of a new edition of “A History of Glossop Labour Club 1906 – 2022” by local historian Gwyneth Francis, and contributions from Ms Francis and past Chair of the club Terry Revell. Discussion, including contributions from attendees will be moderated by the club’s current Chair, Derek Clarke.
Admission is free, and all are welcome to attend what promises to be a lively and informative evening. The bar will be open for refreshments from 7:00 with the talks commencing at 7:30.
