Three people, including one with an injured leg, were recovered overnight during a seven-hour operation near Black Clough by Glossop Mountain Rescue Team.
The rescuers scrambled just after 9pm on Saturday August 31, locating the walkers using Phonefind technology.
However, due to the remoteness and steepness of the clough, they called in extra help from the Woodhead Mountain Rescue Team and the Coastguard helicopter.
Low cloud and difficult weather conditions prevented the Coastguard from landing, meaning the combined group of 18 rescuers had to stretcher the casualty off the hillside, who was then taken to hospital.
The mountain rescue teams stood down at 4:05am on Sunday morning.
The Glossop branch also appointed a new President this week.
Peter Stewart joined the team in 1969, attending thousands of callouts in the High Peak and beyond over the past 55 years.
Peter has directly and indirectly contributed to saving countless lives on the hills up and down the country,” said a statement from the group. “He has also held a number of roles in the team including being a SARDA dog handler and team leader.”
