Glossop progressed to their second County Cup Final in successive years overcoming Storm Darragh and an able Bakewell side in challenging conditions for both sides at The Ellen White pitch, Cemetery Road.
It was Bakewell who went in front , a rare Bakewell attack turned in by a Glossop defender at the near post early on but the advantage was short lived. Talisman youngster Matty Birkhead fired home in 20 minutes after good work from Callum Cheetham on the right. Brandon Wood then went close as the game started to open up for the blues.
Fergal O'Grady scored his 4th goal in the competition a few minutes later before Callum Manley scored with his first touch on the the half hour. Bakewell struggled in the conditions but Glossop did not relent , Will Needham adding a fourth goal with a neat finish to put the blues well on top at half time.
Connor Scowcroft was introduced at half time as Glossop used their bench to good effect and showed great promise on the right and although against the weather Callum Manley scored his second on 55 minutes to put the tie to bed.
Bakewell did create chances but Aaron Potts in goal was more than a match and Chay Lomas and skipper Lewis Woolstencroft looked assured at the back aided by Ben Gove who looked comfortable on the left.
Theo Warwood and Jo Jo Mills were introduced on 65 minutes to add legs in the midfield and impressed in a cameo with must watch player Charlie Goddard to see out the game in a comfortable manner, playing some of their best football in the latter stages.
Overall all it was a resounding victory to reach the final again but credit to Bakewell for a good performance with a young side. Thanks to the supporters who braved the elements in one of the only games to survive the weather in the North West and Glossop North End Community Club can now look forward to another final!
