Glossop Parish Church need your help

Glossop Parish Church is appealing for help to finance the never-ending need for repairs and maintenance.

As a result of failed pointing and lead flashing on the tower, heavy rain at the beginning of the year caused water to penetrate the building, flooding the ringing chamber and entering the electrical system.

Repairs to the electrics, which cost £1,000, are complete and repairs to the pointing and flashing, which are said to be £5,700, will take place in the coming weeks.

Outstanding maintenance includes replacing failed lighting units in the nave and the chancel (£1,000), repairs to metal window frames which are either corroded or distorted (£6,000), and replacement of cracked or broken panes, which has yet to be finalised.

Priest in charge, the Rev Dr David Mundy, said: “The work to the windows should help reduce heat loss and water ingress.

“To ‘run’ Glossop Parish Church of All Saints, the Parochial Church Council relies on the generosity of individuals who give of their time and their money.

“If you can make a financial contribution towards the cost of maintenance, please contact Christine Pycroft, the PCC Treasurer at christinepycroft@n-comp.co.uk.”
