Glossop resident collects five UNESCO awards in Paris

Glossop resident Dr Shirley Woods-Gallagher was at UNESCO in Paris last week to collect five Global Inclusion Awards.

Dr Shirley Woods Gallagher was handed the awards at the International Forum of Inclusion Practitioners, with three of the awards coming on behalf of three specialist schools in her Multi Academy Trust.

The other two awards recognised Dr Shirley Woods Gallagher for her devotion to mental health and diversity work -  with the awards coming on behalf of the mental health charity she acts as Chair of Trustees of and the final one for her leadership in calling for neuroinclusion for all at work.

Commenting on the event, Shirley said: "I am proud to be an Autistic, values driven, authentic and resilient leader in education in Greater Manchester. I am proud that as a Glossop resident I graced the stage of the UN in Paris wasn't lost on me. I thought of Our Gang in that moment. Happy International Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2024 Glossop!"
