Students at St Philip Howard Catholic Voluntary Academy have come up with a great way for all Glossopdale children to keep fit and have fun over the half-term holidays.
As part of the school’s Community Outreach Work, they have come up with a walk with clues to questions to answer on the way round.
Gemma Jones, St Philip Howard’s business support staff member, said: “We asked them to come up with some ideas of how to connect with the wider community in these unusual times and after looking at lots of different ideas they have decided to create a ‘Covid secure’ activity trail for the children of the Glossopdale area for the upcoming half-term.
“Starting last week we have had 60 keyworker pupils decorating pebbles to be used on the Mossy Lea Trail.”
The school has drawn up a map (see below) which has been emailed to all local primary schools in the area inviting them to take part.
The trail is located on Mossy Lea and is approximately 1.5km long - appropriate footwear is advised to be worn.
Gemma added: “As set out on the map, the pupils follow the path to find the various stones and answer the questions about the stones.
“We hope children will be able to walk the Covid-safe activity trail over half-term to see what the pupils have done.”
You can access the trail from Old Glossop with the pebbles starting near the footbridge over the river, past the factory and ending at Mossy Lea.
The pebbles will be in place from this Saturday (February 13).
