Glossop shop to close after five decades

A Glossop stationary shop is set to close after 50 years in business.

Wain Services on Arundel Street celebrates half a century this year.

But owner Judith Moss will be closing the shop at the end of July.

On social media she said: “Having owned the business for 22 years, my working years within it total 35....which is why you may find me very emotional over the next few weeks.

“I shall continue for some time to operate in a different mode, details of which will follow later.”

Wain Services sells stationery, art and craft materials, along with models.

The news has been greeted with sadness in Glossop.

One of the responses to the news said: “So sad that Wains is closing. Such a lovely lady and always knowledgeable and helpful. Good luck in the future.”

Another said: “What a sad loss. Wains is a real Glossop institution where you are always assured of a smile and excellent service. So sorry to see you go.”
