“This has been a truly up and down year so far.” said Liz Kearslake, Glossopdale’s Foodbank manager, as she reflects on the job she has held since the beginning of the year.
“Having received the news that we would be having to pay rent for the first time in the future, to Derbyshire County Council, who owned the Lockup from which we work, we have been very active in trying to generate more income so we can continue providing the service we do.”
“To this end, we have delivered Leaflets to many household in Glossop, explaining what we do and what kind of help people can give us, and I’m pleased to say, the response has been truly heartwarming.”
Glossopdale Foodbank has also been made the ‘Charity of the Year’ by Glossop Golf Club, who have also presented us with a very generous cheque and will also be holding various fundraisers during the coming year.
‘Start 2 Jog’, a local group who get involved in various park runs, have also named them as their ‘Charity of the Year’. As well as looking like the group have lots of funraising money, they also collect food donations at their park run tourism days.
Liz added:“ We are very grateful to all the people, businesses and organisations who go out their way to help us. As a charity, we rely entirely on donations to continue the work we do, so once again a really big thank you to everyone who helps us keep going.”
