Glossopdale Sixth Form celebrate A Level results day

Glossopdale School and Sixth Form is pleased to report some outstanding achievements by its students on this year's A Level results day.

Students have been working hard for the last two years and the recent results reflect this.

Headteacher Debbie McGloin expressed how proud she was of this cohort of students, she commented: ‘Well done to all of our students for whom the long summer wait for their results is over. Students have worked exceptionally hard and done themselves and the Sixth Form proud. I am delighted that all of our students who wanted to go to university have secured their places and others have plans for higher apprenticeships and employment.’

‘Many of this year’s cohort have been with us since Year 7 and it is emotional for us to finally see them leave but we know that they have much to give and will be successful in whatever their chosen pathway. We wish them all the very best for the future and look forward to seeing them again in December for our Presentation Evening.’

Fionula Flaherty, Assistant Head Teacher Sixth Form added: ‘‘We are delighted with the achievements of our students this year but this is just a small part of a bigger picture. We need to remember that our students are much more than just their grade. Their resilience, hard work and sense of fun they have shown over the past two years is remarkable. They are all exceptional, inspiring, and talented young people and we couldn’t be prouder of them all!’

She added: ‘They have been a wonderful year group, characterised by their sense of humour and determination to achieve success. We wish them well in achieving their aspirations for the future.’

The sixth form will be opening it’s new doors in September as they have new premises which are separate from the main building, Head of Sixth Form Daniel Peate said: ‘As always at this time of year we are looking forward to our new cohort starting and this year we are in our brand new premises separate from the main school building. The Governors and Trust have invested in the future of our Sixth Form and this is a very exciting time in our journey.’
