Glossopdale students celebrate their excellent GCSE results

Staff at Glossopdale School and Sixth Form were delighted to present Year 11 students with their GCSE and BTEC results today and thrilled to share in their many and considerable successes.

Mrs. McGloin, Headteacher, said “We are immensely proud of all our students and it is wonderful to see so many happy faces today as they opened their envelopes. Disruption caused by the pandemic and lockdown was a concern for many as this year's class of 2023 were in year eight when Covid restrictions struck. However, our students performed very well indeed, they have worked so hard over the last 2 years to achieve their results and deserve all the success and accomplishments.”

Students whose attainment is particularly impressive are: Caitlin Swan with 10 Grade 9s, Alfie Kelly with 8 Grade 9s and 2 Grade 8s, Henry Ford 7 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s,  Katie Myers with 3 Grade 9s and 6 Grade 8s, Abby Harrison  with 4 Grade 9s, 3 Grade 8s and 1 Grade 7 and 1 Grade 6, , Owen Silcock with 5 Grade 9s, 2 Grade 8s, 2 Grade 7s and 1 Grade 6, Kirsty Hazell with 2 Grade 9s, 7 Grade 8s and 1 Grade 6, Theo McFarlane with 5 Grade 9s, 3 Grade 7s and 1 Grade 6.

Glossopdale also had a significant number of students who made exceptional progress compared to their starting points in Year 7, these included Adam Smith, Will McCollough, Abbigail Turner, Abby Harrison, Thomas Chorlton, Megan Whitely and Toby Hall.

"We are immensely proud of all of our students who have responded so maturely and positively by working harder and showing more determination than ever.

We are especially pleased that so many of our students will remain at Glossopdale to pursue their Sixth Form studies. Mrs. Flaherty, Assistant Headteacher for the Sixth Form commented: “We are looking forward to another year of fun, hard work and success with our new Year 12 cohort. Students moving into the Sixth Form really do have a different experience to those in KS3 and 4 and they are a real inspiration to younger students who often aspire to be part of the Sixth Form community. They are fantastic role models and we are delighted that they have decided to take their next steps with us.”

We wish all of our students huge congratulations!
