Glossopdale youngsters make Christmas cards for elderly folk

Hundreds of fabulous cards made by school and nursery pupils across Glossopdale will be bringing smiles to elderly people this Christmas.

More than 600 cards have been hand drawn and written by children from Glossopdale School, St Andrew's CE Junior School, Hadfield Infants School, St Charles' Catholic Voluntary Academy, Padfield Community Primary School, Hadfield Nursery School, Merseybank Nursery and Little Stars Nursery.

They will be going out to over 300 elderly people in the local community via nursing homes, Marianne Alexander at Mimi's Cafe in Hollingworth and The Bureau in Glossop.

It's part of a project involving local groups The Hummingbird Project and Hadfield and Padfield Peoples Entertainment (H.A.P.P.E).

Jo Gregory, from The Hummingbird Project, said: "A big thank you to Sandy Henderson at H.A.P.P.E who has organised this for us again this year and collected the Christmas cards from our Hadfield and Padfield schools and nurseries.

"And a big thank you to Homa Taylor and the children from St Luke's School for your wonderful batch of cards too. This project every year is the one that I love the most. Our youngest community members connecting with our eldest - true community spirit."
