Glossopdale Fairtrade Group's Fairtrade Fortnight starts on Monday (22 February) but members won't be able to dress up as bananas and hand out the Fairtrade fruit in Norfolk Square.
The latest Covid-19 lockdown has severely curtailed events that included a Fairtrade breakfast and a children’s design a poster competition.
Chris Nudds, from the group, said: “We hope everyone will consider buying an extra Fairtrade item to support farmers who are producing our food in the developing world.
“We have however been able to organise a primary school competition and five headteachers in Glossopdale have been very supportive in inviting their pupils to take part in our competition to produce ‘Home Baking, using Fairtrade ingredients’.
“To enter, children should send in a photo or drawing of their baking and include the recipe.
“Children may receive details from their school, but if not you can obtain them by emailing christine.nudds1@mypostoffice.co.uk
“Hopefully next year we will be back promoting Fairtrade outside local supermarkets and on the streets of Glossopdale.”
