As the festive season approaches, the Glossop Chronicle is excited to support local businesses in their efforts to bring holiday cheer to the heart of Glossop town centre.
This year, Nancy’s Nest has proposed a community-wide late-night shopping initiative, designed to give residents and visitors alike a chance to shop locally in the evenings throughout December.
Nancy’s Nest, invites other small businesses in Glossop to join in this initiative. Recalling last year’s event, where both Nancy’s Nest and Dark Peak Books extended their hours until 8pm on select Thursdays, they expressed optimism for an even more coordinated and widely promoted event in 2024. Shoppers last year enjoyed complimentary mulled wine or fizz as they browsed, along with a 10% discount during the extended hours.
For this year, the suggested dates for late-night opening are Thursdays 5th, 12th, and 19th December, with a tentative end time around 7pm or 7.30pm. Nancy’s Nest has been working alongside Glossop Creates and has connected with the Create Growth team and High Peak Borough Council to boost promotion, hoping to make this late-night shopping experience a staple in Glossop’s festive calendar.
The Chronicle encourages our readers to support this fantastic local initiative and encourages all Glossop businesses to join. Not only does it bring a sense of community to the town, but it also provides a unique opportunity for residents to complete their Christmas shopping locally, giving a much needed boost to our towns independent retailers.
If you’re a local business interested in joining together this Christmas, please reach out to Nancy’s Nest. With more participants, this year’s late-night shopping could be a memorable event, showcasing the best of what Glossop’s independent businesses have to offer.
