The incident happened at around 1.30pm on Tuesday afternoon (23 May) on Station Street in the town centre.

A spokesperson for Glossop Police SNT said: "Two members of the public have thankfully intervened and made sure the victim was safe with all her belongings. The two perpetrators have then left the area.

"The police would like to take the opportunity to thank those two 'good samaritans' and ask if they or any other witnesses to the incident can get in contact with the police. Our investigations are ongoing however."
