The ground beneath the A57 Snake Pass is still on the move, according to highway chiefs who are anxiously waiting to survey the damage caused by recent landslides.
The infamous Peak District road has been closed for two weeks following landslips resulting from recent torrential rain, and it doesn’t look likely to open anytime soon.
A spokesperson for Derbyshire County Council said: “We are constantly monitoring the landslips on the Snake Pass and movement is still being detected.
“We do realise that many people use this route so as soon as we know more we will let the public know.”
Last week, cabinet member for highways Kewal Singh Athwal said the authority would have to wait for the ground to stop moving in order to carry out a proper assessment of the road and determine a course of action to address the damage.
