A High Peak green group has vowed to continue pressing for action on climate change.
Sustainable Hayfield say that while COP 26 delivered some positive developments, further meaningful changes need to be made.
Cath Moss, Sustainable Hayfield Chair, said: “It’s clear that political leaders on their own aren’t generally going to deliver the policy shifts that are needed to cap rising temperatures.
“What has been achieved is partly down to the pressure they are placed under by their own populations.
“That’s why we need to continue to press for meaningful changes in the way we go about our daily affairs.”
Cath continued “That’s especially important in the UK because our government retains the Presidency of the COP process almost until the next gathering in Egypt late next year. We need to keep marshalling the science and pressing for change.”
As part of the pressure applied in the second week of the COP deliberations, Sustainable Hayfield representatives journeyed to Manchester to join other groups to show support for radical action.
