Buxton Mountain Rescue Team and the Derbyshire Federation of Women's Institutes are among six organisations across Derbyshire to be recognised with a Queen's Platinum Jubilee tree.
The trees from the Queen’s Green Canopy 'Tree of Trees’ have been gifted to the county and dedicated to county organisations and schools.
The six trees are to be planted at an event at Shipley Country Park later this month, and will form a coppice, to be titled The Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Coppice, Derbyshire, in memory of Her Majesty The Queen.
Derbyshire County Council Leader Councillor Barry Lewis said: “We are very grateful to the Derbyshire Lieutenancy for securing the trees for our county and are delighted the worthy recipients have been recognised in this way.”
The others recipients are: Alfreton Park School, Alfreton; Derbyshire Children’s Homes; Landmarks College, Eckington and The Royal School for the Deaf, Derby.
His Majesty’s Lord-Lieutenant Elizabeth Fothergill CBE said: “I am absolutely delighted that the life and incredible contribution of Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II can be celebrated in perpetuity at this wonderful Coppice in the heart of Derbyshire.”
In addition, each group will be given a sapling to plant themselves, courtesy of DCC.
The Queen’s Green Canopy, a nationwide tree-planting initiative was launched by Her Majesty to mark her Platinum Jubilee.
