Halloween warning from police

Police from Hadfield's Safer Neighbourhood Team are doing their best to make sure that no one suffers during two of the most popular nights of the year.

Officers are visiting every junior school in Hadfield, Padfield and Tintwistle to make sure children behave while out ‘trick or treating’.

They are particularly asking pupils not to knock on the doors of houses showing no ‘trick or treat’ notices.

During a recent visit to St Andrew’s C of E Junior School in Hadfield, they also discussed issues surrounding safety on Bonfire Night.

Officers also made a community engagement visit to a coffee morning being held at Carmel Church on Station Road.

PCSO Brian Buller, of Hadfield SNT, said: “The team left posters for visitors and members of the congregation who do not wish to be visited by trick or treaters over the next few days.”

This morning (Thursday), members of Hadfield SNT were joined by Glossop Safer Neighbourhood Team for a visit to Tintwistle Junior School on South Close to talk about trick or treating and bonfire night safety.

Brian added: "All pupils were made aware of the poster that will be or has been given to the vulnerable and elderly members of our community, who do not wish to be visited during the events.

"The assembly included discussing the Do's & Don'ts on Halloween & Bonfire Night. Remember we want you to keep safe, respect others in our community too and have fun."

The team also popped into a coffee morning at St Andrews Church in Hadfield and Padfield School on Thursday to spread the word.

Glossop SNT say they will gladly provide a copy of the poster if you ring 101 and ask for a member of the team.
