A consultation on introducing 20mph limits to parts of Buxton is now open.
Derbyshire County Council is looking to introduce the changes in Buxton, as well as Long Eaton, as part of a Greener Towns initiative.
People living and working in the areas are being if they think the changes would make a difference to the environment, their travel choices, road safety, air quality and their health and wellbeing.
DCC’s Cabinet Member for Highways Assets and Transport, Councillor Kewal Singh Athwal, said: “We think that a 20mph limit could improve health by improving air quality and hopefully get more people out of their cars and walk or cycle to make short local journeys but would like to know what people think.”
The consultation is now open on the council’s website at derbyshire.gov.uk/greenertowns and will run until 13 April 2023.
Members of public can also go along to The Pump Room in Buxton on Monday 23 January and Tuesday 24 January between 10am and 4.30pm to find out more.
Following the consultation, a further report will be prepared to look at the findings and whether or not to go ahead with a 20 mph limit in each town.
