Hayfield May Queen weekend is back for its 97th year

The annual parade returns this Saturday, May 11, for the 97th time.

The weekend begins with the iconic parade at 1.30pm, which starts at Hayfield's bus station and goes through the village and down to the old school field on Swallow House Lane. This is expected to end at 2.30pm, and there will be road closures in place.

After the parade, there will be a selection of entertainment on the old school field as well as stalls, ice cream and a fun fair.

Saturday will also see the crowning of the May Queen.

On Sunday, there will be a smaller parade with the Thornsett band at St John’s Methodist church for a 10.30am service.

Bands and various stalls will also be there on Sunday as well as a bar and fun fair from 1pm.

The committee would like to thank all the helpers, volunteers and marshals who help the weekend run smoothly.
