Hadfield food recycling project Bellies Not Bins continues to combat food waste and food insecurity in the community.
For a £1.50 donation, residents can get everything from bananas and cheese to sausages and spring onions.
Sessions are every Thursday from 1pm to 2pm at Carmel Church on Station Road, and there’s a brew and a bowl of heart-warming soup for anyone who drops in.
Cllr Ollie Cross said: “Anyone is more than welcome to come down and save all this perfectly good food from going to landfill.
“Although, it mainly serves folk from Hadfield and Padfield, there’s a fair few Glossopians and Tinslers too.
“Attendances have drastically increased in recent months and we got another 50 through the door (last Thursday) afternoon. The average attendance has almost doubled in the past year or so.
“The volunteers are a credit to our local community and always ensure that no one goes without.”
Ollie and Gill Cox, chair of Hadfield Coming Together, spent Christmas Eve delivering bags of food destined for landfill to households in Padfield and Hadfield.
Ollie said: “The amount of food what was donating that night was staggering. We had car loads of stuff and there was another four cars which were packed to the brim.”
