Helping hands still on hand in Tintwistle

Twelve months on and a project started at the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic to look after a village's communities is still going strong.

Tintwistle Together is there to help those in need and organisers say it will be for as long as it’s needed.

It is not just for the duration of Covid-19 or because of it. It is there for anyone in the village, for whatever reason.

The ‘mutual support  group’ was formed to help villagers who needed practical help due to isolating or  shielding.

Volunteers have collected prescriptions and picked up shopping, cleared snow and ice from paths and given other kinds of support.

The group can link people of all ages with ‘a willing volunteer’ and can also arrange telephone calls to anyone feeling in need of a friendly chat or even link them for a spot of outdoor exercise.

The group can contacted via its Facebook page Tintwistle Together Community Support, or by emailing tintwislehelp@gmail.com
