Bus passengers across the High Peak have been given a boost for the New Year, with £2 fares available from 1 January until 31 March.
High Peak Buses is one of 130 operators which will be introducing a £2 fare cap on single tickets for the three-month period.
It is being done through a new scheme launched by the Government, as part of its Help for Households campaign, to provide support with cost-of-living pressures and will help families, commuters and other passengers save money.
All High Peak Bus services are included in the scheme such as the TransPeak service from Buxton to Derby, the 199 from Buxton to Manchester Airport and the 61 service that runs between Buxton and Glossop.
If your journey already costs less than £2, this will remain unchanged and you will pay the lower fare. All other single fares will be capped at £2.
Daily, weekly and monthly tickets will still be available to purchase on the bus or via the HighPeak App, but it may be cheaper to purchase a £2 single each time you travel, for the duration of the scheme.
Backed by £60 million in Government funding, the initiative being introduced across England is expected to take up to two million cars off the road.
