A High Peak charity is celebrating after being awarded £70,000 in National Lottery funding – thanks to the support and votes from the local community.
High Peak Community Arts were one of five charities to reach the final of The People's Projects on ITV's Granada Reports with its project.
The public were then asked to vote for the project they thought should receive the grant funding, with the winners unveiled on Thursday night.
Alison Bowry, from High Peak Community Arts, said of the award: "It feels absolutely fantastic. We are really really delighted to get the grant to do this very important work that we want to do.
“I’d like to say a huge thank you to everybody who voted for us because it has been really wonderful.”
The ‘It’s in Our Nature’ project has been designed to have a positive impact on the mental health challenges faced by children, young people, and adults across the borough.
It will see children and adults work together to overcome their mental health challenges. Arts activities will celebrate the power of nature to impact mental health and create a showcase at the end of the project, for the whole community to enjoy.
