High Peak Mayor Ollie Cross has shaved his head for charity by taking part in the Big June Prune.
So far, the Padfield borough councillor has raised £240 for Hospice UK.
He told the Chronicle: "It’s great so far, so low maintenance but I have to admit that I feel a bit like an ostrich!”
Cllr Cross added: “I still have some promised donations yet to come in so I am hoping to get over the £300 mark. I’ve never actually had my hair this short. When I was a teenager I used to have long curly hair and it took ages to dry and maintain. Compared to that, this is a breeze.
“It takes a bit of getting used to having it this short. I’ve been catching sight of my reflection and wondering who it is! But if anyone else is thinking of having their head shaved, I’d encourage them to do it. It’s liberating. It’s also a talking point and I can now explain why I did it and raising the money is the most important thing.”

Over the next few months, Cllr Cross will be raising funds for his Mayoral charities - The Hummingbird Project, High Peak Community Arts and Glossopdale Foodbank.
