A pub in the High Peak will permanently close its doors for the final time this weekend.
The Fickle Mermaid, situated on Foresters Way in Chapel, next to the Bypass, is to be demolished and replaced by a new petrol station, and drive thru coffee shop.
Members of High Peak Borough Council’s Development Control committee had rejected the proposals early last year, but they have been given the go-ahead following an appeal to the Planning Inspectorate.
Councillors in a split vote had refused the plans for a number of reasons including concerns over parking and the environmental impact at the loss of a relatively new building.

The planning inspector, however, was satisfied there was sufficient parking and that there would be an extensive reuse of the existing materials.
The new development, which also included electric charging points, is expected to create up to 45 jobs.
Customers of the pub have expressed their sadness at the news and praised the amazing staff for all their work to make it such a welcoming venue.
The team, who have thanked their loyal customers for their support, confirmed the closure on social media.
They said: “As you may be aware we stop trading Saturday 25 February, so as a thank you for all your continued support. We have Soulplay band coming on Friday 24th, get your glad rags on and come on down.”
