How to spend Halloween in the High Peak this October

With Halloween just around the corner, we've created a spooktacular list of events that all the family can enjoy in the High Peak this spooky season.

Thornbridge Hall 

Located in Bakewell, Thornbridge Hall offers a range of Halloween activities between Monday, October 28 at 10am and Sunday, November 3 at 4:30pm. 

The lineup consists of a fancy dress competition where you can win yourself a spooky prize, arts and crafts, face painting and their halloween trail which takes you on an adventure around the hall and its grounds. 

There is also a pumpkin patch on October 26 until November 3, where you can pick your perfect pumpkin to carve!

Adults: £8 (17+ yrs)

Children: £4 (3-16 yrs)

Family Ticket: £22 for 2 adults and 2 children (3-16 yrs). 
 

Heights of Abraham in Matlock

This winter, experience the Heights of Abraham in a whole new light with the first-ever winter lights trail. The event includes a scenic cable car journey, illuminated cavern tours, and magnificent views.

Visitors can also enjoy adventure playgrounds, woodland trails, and a wide selection of food and drink options at the Vista Restaurant, Terrace Cafe, and Tavern. The kids can also meet Belinda Broomsticks in the Masson Pavilion, and for a small fee she’ll read your fortune and give children a chance to take a lucky dip into her cauldron.

Take part in the Tommy-knockers hunt, and if you find all six of them you could be in with a chance to win a golden ticket for next year.

 

Peak Cavern pop-up cinema

Between Thursday, October 24 and October 27, the Peak Cavern in Castleton is hosting a pop-up cinema. For £21 you can watch films such as Hocus Pocus, The Conjuring and IT in the cave. 

On arrival, guests can expect live music, a choice of street food vendors and a fully stocked bar based in the Peak Cavern Car Park. 
 

Trick or Treat Circus Live at Buxton Opera House 

This hour-long family friendly show is ideal entertainment for October half term holidays. The show begins at 2pm on Wednesday, October 30 at the Pavilion Arts Centre. They say the event is perfect for those between the ages of 2-11. 

 

Rocky Horror at Glossop Labour Club 

On Saturday, October 26 at 08:00pm, why not watch the Rocky Horror Picture Show at the Glossop Labour Club. 

Hosted by Glossop LGBIQ+, your ticket will include a halftime hotdog, a welcome cocktail and games followed by a disco. 

Face painting will be available to help you get into the spirit and tickets are £10 (waged) and £8 (unwaged).

 

Party at The Empire 

Celebrate the opening of the Empire at 62-64 High Street West in Glossop by going to their All Hallows Eve party on October 31 at 6:30pm. 

Try some halloween cocktails, listen to some live music and go in your best fancy dress! You can also treat yourself to two courses at £20 or three courses for £24.50.
