Jabulani Residential Care Home in Hadfield closed its doors last Monday following Care Quality Commission reports that services were 'inadequate'.
The home, on Waterside, which provided residential care for people with learning disabilities, autism, neurological issues and other complex needs, had new placements suspended by Tameside Council and Tameside and Glossop Clinical Commissioning Group during a routine CQC inspection last July.
It was then placed under review and within special measures.
A follow-up report by the CQC was written-up during a routine but unannounced inspection on February 18 earlier this year, following discussions with staff and residents’ families - adding that the inspection was ‘carried out to follow up on action we told the provider to take at the last inspection.’
Upon review, it rated the service inadequate in terms of safety, effectiveness, response and if it was well-led and required improvement in terms of care.
Residents have reportedly since been moved out to safe places in light of the home’s closure and the building has since been boarded up.
A Derbyshire County Council spokesperson said: “We had placed residents at this home in the past but not for some time, so none of our clients have been affected by this closure.”
