
High Peak Green New Deal is inviting residents and others to join an online meeting to look at ways of working together to fight climate change.
‘Rising to the Challenge of the Climate Emergency’ on Monday (15 March) will start with a short talk from Dr Chris Jones of Manchester’s world renowned Tyndall Centre for Climate Change Research.
The Regional Friends of the Earth organiser will talk about how to work with local councils to bring about change, while a 16-year-old ‘Youth Climate Striker’ will speak about a better future.
Workshops will explore local energy with speakers from the New Mills Torrs Hydro project and the proposed solar farm in Hayfield.
Others will look at the need to restore peat moorlands, Sustainable Transport with Friends of the Earth’s National Air Pollution campaigner and reducing the emissions.
