Journaling workshop has launched in New Mills

After living through a global pandemic and making the move from Dorset up to New Mills, Katy Pearson has started a journaling club at the New Mills Rock Mill Centre.

The idea came about when Katy joined the High Peak creative club and met like minded friend Pippa. With Katy being a writer and Pippa being an artist, they both share the a passion for creativity and decided to join forces, coming up with the idea of the journaling workshop.

Meeting every two weeks from 7pm-9pm, Katy says “It’s an amazing way to meet like minded people, feel relaxed and also to get your and mindfulness flowing”. She adds,  “When you journal the way I teach people, it’s helping you think about the positive side of life and dig into how you’re feeling with compassion and creativity which is so good for our mental health.”

Anybody is welcome to the workshop, it begins with a brief painting exercise which encourages mindfulness and then writing prompts such as “What are you grateful for at the moment?” will be provided. Sessions cost £10 and this includes a drink and a slice of cake.

You can also bring your own journal or buy one there for £4.
