Angela Rayner, the Deputy Prime Minister has confirmed that local authorities will need to increase the number of homes being built to meet Labour’s new targets.
This includes local councils across Derbyshire who will be expected to build 100s of new homes across the county.
Ms Rayner revealed the collective total for these local targets would be just over 370,000 homes a year.
It is understood that under an existing proposal, 243 homes will be built over the next five years however, due to Labour’s new targets, approximately 585 homes will need to be built.
High Peak Borough Council needs to build 1.7 times more houses than what they are currently managing to keep on track with Labour’s new targets.
