High Peak residents took the chance to raise a number of issues with canvassers during the election.
Housing developments and the arrival of McDonald's were among the topics raised by Glossopdale residents.
Council Leader Councillor Anthony Mckeown said: "You always get a mixture of everything, particularly for example in my patch in Gamesley, we get a lot about wanting to improve the housing repair service and stuff about that.
“In Glossopdale there is a lot around development issues - nobody wants new houses but everyone wants somewhere to live.”
He said: “Obviously the market works have taken a lot longer than we would have liked so we got some folk bring that up. But you get a good range of issues."
In both Buxton and Glossop, fast food giant McDonald's want to build new restaurants - the Glossop one has gone through and the Buxton one is currently going through the planning process.
Cllr Mckeown said: “There’s a collection of people who don’t like the fact the Glossop one has gone through but unfortunately, with a lot of stuff that local councils do, we are stuck and trapped by the rules from national Government.
“It would be easy enough for a lot of people to say ‘you just do what you want’ but it doesn’t work like that.
“Take the McDonald’s one for example, if we would have rejected it because there was no grounds to reject it, they would have just won it on appeal and it could potentially have ended up costing the council a load of money.”
